THE INNOVATION AT SÃO MARTINHO
Throughout our history, we have sought to innovate with respect to natural resources and the company’s resources involved in this process; with a lot of work to try to overcome ourselves every day; with respect to the collective (teamwork) and; with the certainty that innovation only exists when it generates value in a sustainable way.
We were pioneers in many agribusiness initiatives and became a reference in the production of sugar, biofuel and renewable energy from sugarcane, among others byproducts. In this journey, the focus on operational efficiency led us to agricultural mechanization in the 1980s, to the implementation of SAP in the 1990s, to the IPO in the 2000s, in addition to the launch of the Agricultural Operations Center (COA) in 2019, a fundamental step in the company’s digital transformation, making São Martinho one of the biggest smart-farming cases in Brazil. These were disruptive movements within the sugar-energy sector, generating growth opportunities for the company and for our partners.
With a culture and values aligned with the global scenario of open innovation, we add to our innovation management a look at the development of new businesses and the promotion of technological entrepreneurship from our association with Cubo Agro.
OUR INNOVATION THESIS
We seek to ensure the continuous production of the lowest cost renewable carbon on the planet, transform this carbon into new products with greateradded value and develop new business opportunities leveraging São Martinho’s tangible and intangible assets. As members of Cubo Agro, we seek to connect with many players in the ecosystem to foster technological entrepreneurship with the aim of promoting, through transformation, the prosperity of the entire agribusiness chain.
We offer the ecosystem a physical, logical and cultural environment that is highly conducive to the open and fully connected innovation model in its entirety for carrying out projects. We also offer the knowledge of specialists with extensive experience, accumulated know-how over decades of learning, data from our operations, an environment for the development of digital solutions and the opportunity to scale the solutions developed in a way that is linked to the strength of the São Martinho brand.
